Korean slang words

“Jimin, you got no jams” you might have heard this sentence before if you’re an army 😉 let me tell you this is a Korean slang which I will talk about soon. In this blog I will talk about common Korean slang words which is often spoken. In learning a language, grammar knowledge is not enough if your end goal is to be fluent and make some good friends you have to add some Korean slang to your conversations. Now, let’s get straight into the topic.

Korean Slangs: -

-->베프 (bae-peuh): -

베프 (bae-peuh) is the short form of 베스트 프렌드 (bae-suh-tuh-peu-ren-deu) which means best friend (BFF).

-->치맥 (chi-maek): -

치맥 (chi-maek) is a combination of two different words. Well, you must be familiar with the first word, 치킨 (chi-khin) that is chicken and the second word is 맥주 (maek-ju) which means beer and is a perfect companion for cold Seoul nights. This trend stated back when the hit romantic-comedy Korean series “My Love from the Star”, when actress Jun Ji-hyun played a chicken and beer loving person.

-->콜 (kol): -

It means “I’m in” or “sure”.

its pronunciation is same as the English word call which signifies whatever dare/bet/or game you’re giving you are in, it’s kind of the English word “I’m down”.

And this word also used in situations where your friends or someone asks you if you’re going to hangout/movies/restaurant, etc. with them. It’s like replying them sure.

-->비번 (bee-bon): -

비번 (bee-bon) is the short form of 비밀번호 (bee-mil-bon-ho) which means password or secret number. But you should know that there is another word for password and that is 암호 (am-ho).

-->댓츠노노 (daet-cheu-no-no): -

댓츠노노 (daet-cheu-no-no) is a Konglish word that is a mixture of English and Korean word means that’s no no and is used whenever you don’t approve of something.
